First grade classes at H.B. Patch Elementary School are in for a treat Friday mornings starting April 8th. Grand-friends are back and ready to read with kids! The term "grand-friend" was coined by Kathy Schumacher during her time here directing the "Learning & Literacy Through Music" program earlier this year. The OACC and School District of Omro are excited to team up once again to promote reading literacy skills.
Just three sessions left! Students will come to the Center to read with Grand-friends on the following Fridays from 9:00-9:20 a.m.: April 29, May 6, & May 20

Volunteers are always needed! See the following:
Making the Ride happen
The Omro Area Community Center, in partnership with Lutheran Social Services, is working to bring Making the Ride Happen to Omro. We are looking for volunteer drivers who are willing to donate a small amount of time to help our local elderly or disabled population to stay mobile in our community. If you are interested in being one of our volunteers, please contact us at the center.
We are also ready to enroll older adults or disabled persons who are interested in participating in this program. If you would like to enroll, please contact us at the center.

Little Fox Literacy
Little Fox Literacy is gearing up for the new school year! After meeting with teachers and volunteers, we found that the program was a great success! We are now looking for additional volunteers to work with students in the coming school year. If you are interested, please contact Katrina at (920) 685-5521, ext 25 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you to all of the volunteers and teachers who participated in the "pilot program." In total, 71.5 hours were donated to help children in the Omro School District with improving literacy skills.
A special thanks goes out to Erin Calvin, Director of Curriculum for the School District of Omro, who was the driving force behind the creation of this program.
